Black Kids Deficient in Vitamin D

March 10th 2010 08:00 am

Research published in the journal Pediatrics, conducted by researchers from Harvard Medical School, the University of Colorado in Denver and Massachusetts General Hospital states that 90% of black kids are deficient in vitamin D.

Vitamin D plays a critical role in bone development, regulating immune systems and protection against cancer, heart disease and autoimmune disorders and infections.

Sun exposure is considered the best source for vitamin D, but as we know kids don’t get outside to play as much as generations of the past. This is very good reason to kick the kids outside and away from video games and TV. Their health is at risk in the future.
